Awards and kudos for the CRC

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - 2009 Environmental Excellence Award

The Computer Recycling Center was one of ten winners of the Environmental Achievement Award from the Environmental Protection Agency's mid-Atlantic region. Vernon Odom from Action News and Temple's Office of News Communications reported on the CRC and the award. Computerworld Magazine - 2012 Honors Laureate

Temple University was named a 2012 Computerworld Honors Laureate. Established in 1988, the Computerworld Honors Program recognizes individuals and organizations that use information technology to promote positive social, economic, and educational change. The winning entry submitted by Computer Services was a case study titled “Green Methods of Closing the Digital Divide.” This study describes how the resources of the Computer Recycling Center (CRC) are used to help bridge the digital divide for Temple students as well as the surrounding communities. This entry was among more than 500 from 25 countries that a panel of distinguished judges evaluated for the humanitarian benefits and measurable results of applying technology to meet a specific social need. University Business Magazine - 2011 Models of Efficiency Award

The Computer Recycling Center (CRC) received recognition in the Models of Efficiency program by University Business magazine and Higher One for work in the recycling and disposing of electronic equipment. Temple was one of six colleges recognized nationally. The program acknowledges colleges and universities that develop and implement creative solutions to improve processes and save money. (7/1/11)
