Print on the Go

Students can submit print requests and pick up their documents at any Print on the Go location.

Overview

Print on the Go allows students to submit print requests wirelessly and then print the documents at any Print on the Go print station location. This service also gives eligible Temple University students the opportunity to take advantage of their free printing quota.

Print on the Go saves time, as it eliminates the need to transfer files to a USB drive or upload them to OWLbox or Google Docs for printing. Also, students don't have to wait for a lab computer to become available.

Temple offers three types of Print on the Go services:

  • Print on the Go Mobile
  • Print on the Go Web
  • Print on the Go Classic

Print on the Go Mobile

Print on the Go Mobile enables you to print documents using a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. You can use it from any location that has internet access, either on or off campus. With Print on the Go Mobile, you do not need to perform a setup process. You send the documents via email using your TUmail account.

Things to keep in mind about Print on the Go Mobile:

  • You can print any Microsoft Office document, Adobe PDF file, JPG, text, or PNG file. If you try to mail a file in an unsupported format, you will receive a return email telling you that your print job has failed, and listing the allowable file formats.
  • You can print 20 documents per day.
  • Color printing is not available at this time.
  • Your document will be available to print for up to six hours at any Print on the Go print station location.
  • When you swipe and print, the pages will be deducted from your standard printing quota.
Submit a Print Request

Before you send your Print on the Go Mobile email request, please be aware that your email From address must be your AccessNet-username@temple.edu  (e.g. tua55555@temple.edu) and not an alias, such as russell.conwell@temple.edu.

To submit a print request:

  1. Log into your TUmail account and create an email message to owlprint@temple.edu.
  2. Include a Subject, such as owlprint or the name of your document.
  3. Attach up to three documents that you wish to print and send the message.
  4. Depending on the complexity of the documents, you should receive an e-mail reply within about 15 minutes, confirming that the jobs are ready to print. If you do not receive a confirmation after this time, please resubmit your request, taking care to follow all instructions/requirements listed on this page.
  5. See Using a Print Station.

Things to know:

  • The address owlprint@temple.edu will print your file double-sided. This is the default printing mode at Temple, used to promote environmental sustainability and conserve your print quota. To print your document as single-sided (for a final draft, for example), send the email to owlprint.single@temple.edu.

Print on the Go Web

Print on the Go Web enables you to print documents and track your quota using a web browser (Windows, Mac OS, Android) or mobile app (iPhone/iPad). You can use this service from any location that has internet access, either on or off campus. With Print on the Go Web, you do not need to perform a setup process, with the exception of iPhone and iPads, which require that you install an app.

Things to keep in mind about Print on the Go Web:

  • You can print any Microsoft Office document, Adobe PDF file, JPG, text, or PNG file. Other types of files will not work.
  • The maximum allowable file size is 50MB.
  • Color printing is not available at this time.
  • Your document will be available to print for up to six hours at any Print on the Go print station location.
  • When you swipe and print, the pages will be deducted from your standard printing quota.

Print on the Go Classic

Print on the Go Classic is designed for Windows or Mac computers only. While there is an initial setup process, you are not restricted as to the types of files that can be printed.

Things to keep in mind about Print on the Go Classic:

  • You must be connected to Temple's TUsecurewireless or TUresnet network to use this service.
  • Color printing is not available at this time.
  • Your document will be available to print for up to six hours at any Print on the Go print station location.
  • When you swipe and print, the pages will be deducted from your standard printing quota.

Print Station Usage

After you submit a print request using Print on the Go, you will have six hours to print out your document. If you don't print after six hours, the print job will be automatically deleted from your print queue.

  1. Go to a Print Station Location. Print on the Go stations are identified by the following sticker:
    Print on the Go sticker
  2. Swipe your OWLcard at the card reader near the printer. You will see the individual documents listed.
  3. Select the jobs you want to print. Please be sure that the price reflects the number of pages. This amount will be deducted from your print quota. If you have exhausted your print quota, the amount will deducted from your Diamond Dollars account.
