Overview

Temple University's Computer Services department purchases an annual site license for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The license period runs from May 25th through the following May 24th each year.

Both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server are available. Though the software is provided at no charge, there is also no technical support provided.

Supported versions of Red Hat products are available on a subscription basis from our Red Hat Academic Reseller. Those interested in this option can contact the Purchasing Department at 215-204-6700 (1-6700) or email software@temple.edu.

Terms and Conditions

The use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux is governed by the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Applications License Agreement. In addition, applications developed using open source software code is generally required to share back the developed product with the open source community and at no charge under certain circumstances.

How to Obtain

Red Hat Linux can be downloaded from the Help Desk Download Site - you must have an AccessNet ID to download the software. It can be done on campus or remotely from your home or other location.

Upgrade Options

Our subscription license entitles Temple University to any product updates or upgrades released during the subscription period.
